Twitch is a live video streaming and video-on-demand platform created in 2011. Streamers – the name of the platform's content creators – make live-streamed videos.
The content is varied: video games, cooking, art, or even a discussion between the streamer and his viewers via instant messaging.
Some lives can bring together more than a million people, and even the government has gotten into it!
The videos then remain available on the streamers' profiles.
What is a Twitch Clip?
On Twitch, clips are excerpts from a streamer's videos, lasting from 5 to 60 seconds.
You can see the video of the streamer as well as the comments of the spectators at the time of recording.
The clips can be made by the streamer himself, for example to attract more audience by broadcasting the clips on other social networks.
Viewers can also create clips from their favorite streamer's videos, so they can re-watch certain video sequences, such as a technical passage in a video game, or an explanation of an illustrator's artistic process.
This allows direct access to the moment you want to watch, without having to watch the whole live stream, which can be long, or even last several days!
If the option to create clips is enabled by default, the streamer can decide to disable it by unchecking the corresponding box.
Viewers will no longer be able to create a clip from the video.
This option can be found in Clip Settings on the Creators Dashboard.
It is also possible to limit the restriction to certain categories only.
How to Create a Twitch Clip on Computer
To create a clip of a Twitch video from your computer, you must:
Go to the Twitch website and log in to your account
Go to the streamer's page and start the video
Click on "Clip" at the bottom right of the video, or use the keyboard shortcut "Alt + X" (or Option + X on Mac)
In the window that opens, move the cursor to select a sequence between 5 and 60 seconds

How to create a Twitch clip from a smartphone
On iOS or Android, the steps to follow are as follows:
From the Twitch app, go to the streamer's account and open the video
Show options and click “Share”
Then click on “Create a clip”
Once the clip editor is open, select a video clip ranging from 5 to 60 seconds
Give a title to the clip
Once the clip is validated, it will be published automatically.
How to Share a Clip on Twitch
Once the clip is created, it will be automatically posted to the user's or streamer's Twitch profile.
It is then available to be viewed as many times as necessary.
It is also possible to share Twitch clips on other platforms and social networks, such as WhatsApp, Facebook or Telegram, as simple video content:
Only streamers can upload their own clips:
Click on the clip sharing icon
Then click on the “Share” menu
Choose the application on which you want to share the clip
Select one or more recipients
Confirm sharing
If you are on a computer, sharing is done by broadcasting the link located under the video.
How to upload a clip to Twitch
Twitch does not offer its users to download a Twitch clip for offline viewing.
The only way to download a Twitch clip to your computer or phone is through a third-party app or site.
These sites use the URL of the clips to generate the video for download.
Only streamers can upload their own clips:
