Around midnight today (the 1st), 4 hours after the negotiations resumed.

Labor and management of Seoul Transportation Corporation joined hands.

[Myung Soon-pil/Seoul Transportation Corporation Union Chairman: As for manpower reduction, which was the biggest issue, last year in 2021, it was possible to reach a grand

compromise between labor and management while respecting the special agreement between labor and management.]

Nya, labor and management have repeatedly negotiated and stood up tight, but this agreement contains only the phrase that respects the agreement last year that 'we will not undergo forced restructuring due to the financial crisis'.

[Seoul Transportation Corporation officials: We have to think about the position of workers, and we also have to think about the position of Seoul.

Wouldn't it be a compromise, the phrase itself.]

Regarding the part of the safety manpower expansion that the union has been continuously demanding, both sides reached a broad agreement to the extent of "preparing a plan in the future."

A 'compromise' was made in a hurry on the day of the strike, but without a clear conclusion, the sensitive part was bypassed.

In fact, an official from the construction side hinted at the fact that the agreement does not mention 'withdrawal of restructuring', so manpower reduction can be attempted again in the future.

There is also an analysis that public opinion worsened as a commotion broke out on the way home from the first day of the strike, and some criticized that it was a 'political strike' linked to the strike by the cargo unions.

A union negotiator said that the opinion that "if it is seen as a political strike, it loses public support and justification" came from within the union.
