A foreigner who deliberately caused an accident by selecting a vehicle that violated laws such as drunk driving and collecting insurance and settlement money was arrested.
The Busan Southern Police Station announced that they had arrested Egyptian national A on charges of violating the Special Act on the Prevention of Insurance Fraud.
In June last year, Mr. A ran into his own car while following a staggering drunk driving vehicle on a road in Gwangan-dong, Suyeong-gu, Busan.
After it was confirmed that he was drunk and driving, he demanded a settlement in the name of medical expenses and ripped out 9.85 million won.
In June of this year, Mr. A found a vehicle running in the opposite direction while hiding among parked cars on a one-way street in Mapo-gu, Seoul, and contacted his body to get insurance money.
As such, Mr. A is accused of collecting 120 million won in insurance and settlement money 22 times after deliberately causing an accident with a vehicle that violates traffic laws, such as drunk driving, lane change violation, and reverse driving in Busan and Seoul.
Mr. A is known to speak fluent Korean.
