A 30-year-old man has been sentenced to prison for assaulting a teenage receptionist at a karaoke bar after calling the chief of the office for refusing prostitution.

Yesterday (29th), according to the legal community, the 5th criminal division of the Daejeon District Court (Judge Park Jun-beom) sentenced 36-year-old A, who was charged with special injury, to 2 years and 6 months in prison.

Mr. A was drinking with an acquaintance at a karaoke bar in Seo-gu, Daejeon around 1 am on the 15th of February and offered prostitution to the 13-year-old waitress B, but was rejected.

Angry at this, Mr. A summoned the store manager, 18-year-old C, and is accused of assaulting his face and body several times with a microphone and fists.

When Army C ran away from the karaoke room, Mr. A chased after him and continued to beat him, and in the course of the assault, he threatened to reveal that he was a member of a famous gang in Daejeon.

Group C suffered 3 weeks of anterior injuries, including a fractured nasal bone.

A was previously sentenced to 8 months in prison for violating the Employment Security Act on September 7, 2017, and was released from prison on May 6, 2018.

A claimed that he was not assaulted because he was refused prostitution at the trial, but the court did not accept this.

The court pointed out, "The defendant assaulted and seriously injured the victim because Miss B, a minor, refused to trade in prostitution," the court said.

He explained the reason for the sentencing, saying, "Even though there are a number of criminal penalties, including previous criminal convictions, there is a high risk of recidivism due to a weak sense of compliance and ethics as well as sensitivity to punishment."
