Complaints about poor data transfer speed compared to Windows 10

Windows 11 faces technical problems that limit its speed

Microsoft and AMD confirmed that the problem is expected to be resolved this month.

New operating systems generally claim that they provide better performance, but their errors and other problems may indicate otherwise, at least at the beginning of the versions, and this is the case for some users whose devices have been upgraded to “Windows 11”, according to a report published PC World website. In addition to some preliminary issues on AMD Ryzen CPUs, which have since been fixed, slower data transfers are reported on some NVMe SSDs or SSDs. Non-volatile memory host control), and since "M.2" drives are desirable for their high speeds, it seems somewhat frustrating to early users of this system. This is indicated by Neowin log reports made by users in the official Microsoft forum and Reddit, where some of these reports offered random data transfer speeds less than half the performance of the same devices running Windows 10. It appears that the problem is not general, and that at least some of the drives will run at full speed if newer drivers are adopted. A performance drop, in the range of 10 to 25%, has also been reported on some drives.

A Microsoft employee confirmed to Reddit that "Microsoft is investigating the matter, in response to users' complaints about slower delivery times, and also slow in random data transfers."

Windows 11 users also made comments regarding this issue in the company's Feedback Center.

The good news is that Microsoft and AMD have confirmed that they have identified the problem, and a resolution is expected this month.

Unfortunately, this good news comes after some bad news, as the patch for Windows 11, released in October, appears to have increased latency on Ryzen even more, as confirmed by TechSpot and Tech Bouar August.

Meanwhile, users have some options.

After they've had Windows 11 for a week or so, it's best to stay on Windows 10 for now, and all that will change when the Android app's functionality is rolled out more broadly.

Windows 11 is a free upgrade to Windows 10, and it will take until mid-2022 for the update to become available to all eligible PCs.
