Robotics continues to make progress.

If the media scene is regularly monopolized by Boston Dynamics and its robot acrobats, it should not be forgotten that many engineers around the world are working on their own vision of robotics.

Engineered Arts, a British designer and manufacturer of humanoid robots, has unveiled its latest advances to the public in the form of Ameca, a humanoid robot with particularly believable facial expressions.

Not yet autonomous

Unlike the robots from Boston Dynamics, Ameca is not able to move independently.

Its creators do not exclude giving it this faculty in the future, but for the moment, it is rather an animatronic.

It must be animated manually to perform specific tasks.

In Ameca's demo video, the robot appears to wake up and discover its body.

He moves his arms and watches them intently as his face expresses astonishment.

The animation of the face and eyes are particularly impressive.

In parallel with Ameca, Engineered Arts is also working on a robot called Mesmer.

The latter is devoid of body, but his head gains an even more realistic skin than that of Ameca.

Engineered Arts is a British company that works in the creation of humanoid robots for use for entertainment purposes, for example at fairs or theme parks.

The future versions of Ameca and Mesmer could therefore soon be found in this type of shows.

Ameca will be presented in more detail during CES 2022.
