Seoul Central District Prosecutor's Office summoned and investigated Hallyu star A as a suspect yesterday.

Mr. A is suspected of secretly introducing a plurality of psychotropic drugs such as zolpidem into Korea from abroad.

As a result of the prosecution's investigation, it was revealed that A was caught during the customs screening stage while trying to bring psychotropic drugs such as zolpidem from Japan through an employee of his agency's Japanese branch, and then bring it into Korea under the name of a domestic employee.

It is known that drugs classified as'C' by law were also classified as'C' because there is a greater concern for abuse than zolpidem.

In response, the agency said that Mr. A had been prescribed sleeping pills in Korea for health problems, and that he had given medical records of hospitals that had been administered in Korea to a Japanese hospital and prescribed the drugs.

Japan also added that a surrogate prescription is possible if there is a history of medication due to coronavirus.

About the attempt to bring the psychotropic drug prescribed in Japan into Korea under the name of another employee, it was a mistake due to ignorance. It was explained that it was sent in the name of a Korean company employee.

The prosecution is planning to determine whether to prosecute the prosecution by comprehensively judging whether Mr. A was actually taking medication and whether there was intentional smuggling.
