A total of six people were referred to the prosecutor's office, including four third-year male members of Nihon University's American football club and two alumni.



According to investigators, each of the six people is suspected of violating the Special Drug Provisions Act for possessing illegal drugs believed to be marijuana in Tokyo between February and June 2023.



Although no marijuana or other items were confiscated from the six people, an investigation determined that they were suspected of being in possession of illegal drugs at the time.



Regarding Nihon University's American football club, a third-year male member of the club was charged with violating the Narcotics Control Law for having pill fragments containing stimulant ingredients in the student dormitory, mistaking them for drugs, and was brought to the Tokyo District Court. was sentenced to one year and four months in prison, suspended for three years.



So far, three people, including this member, have been arrested, and one person has been referred to prosecutors, bringing the number of members charged with this case to 10.



In response to a series of incidents, the university officially disbanded the club in January of this year and withdrew from the Kanto Student Federation.
