Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol's mother-in-law, Choi Mo, attended the prosecution yesterday as a suspect and was investigated until late at night.

Choi is under suspicion of illegally receiving medical care benefits by establishing a nursing hospital in Paju, Gyeonggi-do after serving as co-chair of the medical foundation established in October 2012.

Although this hospital is not a medical institution under the Medical Law, it has been revealed that it has received 2.2 billion won in medical care benefits from the National Health Insurance Corporation for two years since May 2013.

In July 2015, three people, including Choi's co-worker, Moo Koo, were convicted of violating the medical law and fraudulent, but Choi was not punished.

It was acknowledged that Choi resigned from the co-chairman in May 2014 and wrote a'Liability Exemption Memorandum' and was not involved in the operation of the hospital.

This memorandum states that Mr. Choi will not be held civil or criminal responsibility for the operation of the hospital.

However, it is reported that the prosecution initiated an investigation in April following the accusation of the Open Democratic Party leader Choi Kang-wook, and recently obtained a statement from his partner Koo that this liability exemption memorandum was forged.

The prosecution, who intensively investigated Choi's involvement in a nursing hospital, plans to decide whether to punish him based on the results of the investigation.
