  Entering March, there are frequent new developments in the field of pharmaceutical anti-corruption. On the 22nd, according to the Guangdong Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision, Su Shengfeng, the former first-level inspector of the Guangdong Provincial Food and Drug Administration, was suspected of serious violations of discipline and law and is currently undergoing disciplinary review and supervisory investigation by the Guangdong Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision.

  Public information shows that Su Shengfeng is over 61 years old and has worked in the medical system of Guangdong Province for a long time. He once served as director of the Inspection Bureau (deputy department level) of the Guangdong Provincial Food and Drug Administration. Since October 2018, he has served as a member of the Party Leadership Group of the Guangdong Provincial Food and Drug Administration (retaining the deputy department level).

  On March 20, according to the Guizhou Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision, Liang Guiyou, secretary of the Party Committee of Guizhou Medical University, was suspected of serious violations of discipline and law and is currently undergoing disciplinary review and supervisory investigation by the Guizhou Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision.

  Liang Guiyou was born in May 1966. He served as vice president and party committee member of Zunyi Medical College, and president of the Affiliated Hospital of Zunyi Medical College. Before this investigation, he served as secretary of the Party Committee of Guizhou Medical University.

  In January this year, at the promotion meeting of inspection and rectification work held by the school, Liang Guiyou said that the school party committee will fully support the pilot reform of the disciplinary inspection and supervision agencies, strengthen inspection and rectification and implement on-campus inspections, and solidly carry out centralized rectification of corruption issues in the medical field.

  It is worth noting that according to a report by Economic Observer on March 15, Tian Wei, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and former deputy secretary of the party committee and president of Beijing Jishuitan Hospital, was taken away by relevant departments for investigation around the 12th on suspicion of corruption.

  Tian Wei, 65 years old, is an orthopedic surgery expert, mainly engaged in research on precision, minimally invasive and intelligent orthopedic diagnosis and treatment. Tian Wei has served as the president of Beijing Jishuitan Hospital since 2003 and resigned in August 2020. Tian Wei has managed this top tertiary hospital, famous for its orthopedics, for 17 years. In November 2019, he was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

  At the same time, pharmaceutical anti-corruption on the corporate side is also continuing.

  On the same day that news of Tian Wei's investigation broke, the website of the Shanghai Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision reported the news that Zhou Jun, the former president of Shanghai Industrial (Group) Co., Ltd., had been "double fired." According to news from the Supreme People's Procuratorate on the 18th, Zhou Jun's case of suspected corruption and bribery was concluded by the Shanghai Municipal Supervisory Committee and transferred to the procuratorial organ for review and prosecution. A few days ago, the Second Branch of the Shanghai Municipal People's Procuratorate made a decision to arrest Zhou Jun on suspicion of corruption and bribery in accordance with the law.   Zhou Jun, 55, joined Shanghai Industrial (Group) Co., Ltd. in 1996. In September 2016, he served as vice chairman and president of Shanghai Industrial (Group) Co., Ltd.; from October 2016 to November 18, 2023, he served as chairman of Shanghai Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of SI Group.

  On the evening of November 20 last year, according to a report from the Shanghai Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision, Zhou Jun was undergoing disciplinary review and supervisory investigation by the Shanghai Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision on suspicion of serious violations of discipline and law.

  After Zhou Jun was investigated, the position of chairman of Shanghai Pharmaceuticals has been vacant. Until the evening of March 19, Shanghai Pharmaceuticals disclosed two information about high-level personnel changes, and newly elected Yang Qiuhua as chairman of the eighth board of directors of Shanghai Pharmaceuticals.

  On January 8, the third plenary session of the 20th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection pointed out that we should deepen the rectification of corruption in areas where power is concentrated, capital intensive, and resource-rich such as finance, state-owned enterprises, energy, medicine, and infrastructure projects, and eliminate hidden risks. The National Health Commission and the National Medical Insurance Administration also mentioned strengthening anti-corruption or supervision work in the pharmaceutical and medical industries when deploying their annual work.

  In the first week of the new year, two former directors of provincial medical insurance bureaus were notified of "serious violations of disciplines and laws," including Song Yufeng, the former party secretary and director of the Guizhou Provincial Medical Security Bureau, and Cai Renjie, the former party secretary and director of the Hainan Provincial Medical Security Bureau.

  Healthcare organizations are also experiencing strict regulations.
