Google continues to reshape its services.

The American giant announced Wednesday, November 11 that it would delete data stored on Google Drive accounts that have been inactive for more than two years, reports

.

"If you are inactive in one or more of the services for two years (24 months), Google may remove the content of the service or services for which you are inactive," the company said in a blog post.

Of course, in case of deletion, Google will notify users "via emails and notifications".

The deadline for sending these warning messages has been set at three months.

A measure applied on June 1, 2021

To prevent files from being deleted from Drive account, the solution is simple.

Just log into the account regularly.

This measure will not be applied until June 1, 2021. It is only from that date that inactivity will be calculated.

On that date, another important measure will come into force.

Free and unlimited storage of files on the Google Photos service will no longer be possible.

"The contents in high quality or in express quality will be deducted from the storage space of your Google account", we can read.

This means that once the quota of 15 GB of free data is exceeded, you will have to pay to save the additional snapshots.
