You may have money without knowing it.

Since 2017, the Caisse des Dépôts, which inherits accounts that have remained inactive for ten years, has set up a site called Ciclade.

With some personal information, you can have a pleasant surprise, because the contracts left unclaimed represent considerable sums.

Forgotten bank accounts, employee savings, or even the life insurance policy of a deceased loved one that you are unaware of, you may have money without knowing it.

Since 2017, the Caisse des Dépôts has received 8.4 billion euros, mainly from dormant accounts and insurance contracts.

Seven billion euros are lying dormant at the Caisse des Dépôts

Of this total, 840 million euros were returned to their beneficiaries, including 155 last year.

Conversely, 400 million unclaimed euros were subject to a thirty-year statute of limitations.

It was the State that collected them.

Currently, seven billion euros are lying dormant in the Caisse des Dépôts.

Obviously, the sum is a dream, but you shouldn't expect a jackpot, says economist Philippe Crevel.

"Behind, there are several hundred thousand French people. Everyone dreams of the billionaire aunt who left money lying dormant and who did not warn you. But as a general rule, these are accounts that had been forgotten with small amounts.

These are mainly accounts that have not been closed.

The amounts recovered range from a few hundred to a few thousand euros.

Since 2017, two thirds of the sums returned have come from bank accounts for an average amount of 1,325 euros.
