Former President Lee Myung-bak, who was sentenced to 17 years in prison on charges of embezzlement and bribery, left his home in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, in the afternoon of today (2nd) ahead of his detention.
Former President Lee left his home in a black car at around 1:46 pm after meeting with aide who had sought his own self-response, such as Congressman Seong-dong Kwon and Je-won Jang, former Gyeonggi governor Kim Moon-soo, and former Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Yu In-chon.
After attending the Seoul Central District Prosecutor's Office, Lee will be transferred to the Dongbu Detention Center in Munjeong-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul in a car provided by the prosecution.
He was sentenced to 17 years in prison in the Supreme Court on the 29th of last month, but he has already been imprisoned for a year in detention centers, and the remaining imprisonment period is about 16 years.
