The first regular Monday match in the Bundesliga took place last February in Frankfurt, the Eintracht won 2-1 against RB Leipzig, but the result was minor matter for many Frankfurt fans. More important was the whistle, tennis balls and posters expressed protest against the setting on a weekday: "The DFB stands for the complete disassembly of fan culture," it said on a banner.

At the second Monday match, the 1: 1 between Borussia Dortmund and FC Augsburg, the protest was similarly loud. At the clubs made the impression, both in Frankfurt and in Dortmund, the leaders of their approval of the Monday games in the current TV contract again distance. "I think that we learned from this (the protest, editor's note) what football means on Monday," said Eintracht President Peter Fischer.

As the "Süddeutsche Zeitung" now reports, have adopted this opinion and other Bundesliga clubs. It will still take until the next TV contract is tendered from 2021, but currently the German Football League (DFL) agrees with the clubs parameters for the new contract. And according to "SZ", the majority of the league leaders at a joint meeting apparently opposed Monday games.

The current TV contract provides for five games per Bundesliga season. The first Monday match of the current season will be played on the 3rd of December. Then the 1. FC Nürnberg and VfB Stuttgart face each other.
