In the 2nd Football Bundesliga, the top teams from St. Pauli and Kiel made a mistake on Friday.

The pursuers Hannover 96 and Fortuna Düsseldorf could have benefited from this on Saturday, but their draw is of little use to either of them in the fight for the promotion places.

1. FC Kaiserslautern is a long way from such top positions, but with coach Friedhelm Funkel the hope of staying in the league is growing.

1. FC Nürnberg consolidated its midfield position with a win over Eintracht Braunschweig.

The pursuers Hannover 96 and Fortuna Düsseldorf are standing still in the promotion race.

In the chasing duel, the traditional clubs split 2:2 (0:2) and did not come any closer to the top teams thanks to the draw.

Düsseldorf's top scorer Christos Tzolis made the Rhinelanders dream of their first away win of the year with his third brace of the season (11th and 18th minutes).

But substitutes Andreas Voglsammer (63') and Cedric Teuchert (86') prevented Hannover's second defeat in a row.

The outstanding triple goalscorer Ragnar Ache gave 1. FC Kaiserslautern a much-needed sense of achievement in the basement duel of the 2nd league.

Coach Friedhelm Funkel's team deservedly won 3-0 (1-0) against their neighbors Hansa Rostock, who were currently tied on points, after the attacker's three goals (6th, 66th and 76th).

Thanks to only their second win from the last 15 games, the Red Devils climbed to 15th place. Rostock, which played outnumbered from the 38th minute and the yellow-red card for Oliver Hüsing, remains in a direct relegation zone.

1. FC Nürnberg has ended its five-game winless streak in the 2nd league.

The club won against Eintracht Braunschweig 2:1 (2:0) and moved away from the bottom places.

For Braunschweig, the situation in the fight to stay in the league remains explosive.

Sebastian Andersson (23rd) gave coach Cristian Fiel's team, which had recently lost the derby in Fürth, the lead with a header.

Top talent Can Uzun increased with a hand penalty after video evidence (45th + 1).

It was the 12th goal of the season for the 18-year-old.

Rayan Philippe (57th) only shortened the score.
