SC Freiburg did not win in the fifth Bundesliga game in a row.

At FC Augsburg there was a 1:2 (1:0) thanks to goals from Augsburg's Felix Uduokhai (72nd minute) and Arne Engels (80th).

Vincenzo Grifo (19th) had previously given SC the lead with a penalty.

Freiburg broke a series of winning six duels against Augsburg in a row.

At the end of the 23rd matchday, Freiburg, who have now been winless for five games, are in ninth place.

Augsburg celebrated only its second win in the last ten games and jumped to eleventh place.

The visitors almost fell behind in the third minute when Iago shot.

Augsburg's left-back was disturbed when finishing, which is why the ball just rolled onto the post.

Instead, Freiburg scored their first goal because Vincenzo Grifo's hook in the FCA penalty area provoked a foul from Fredrik Jensen, who stepped on his opponent's foot.

Grifo safely shot the penalty due into the bottom left corner (19th).

Atubolu parries strongly, but in vain

Otherwise, Augsburg was the stronger team, a free kick from Ruben Vargas (44') and Ermedin Demirovic from nine meters (45'+1) came close to equalizing.

The hosts also applied more pressure in the second half, but a Grifo cross almost made it 2-0 for Freiburg if Ritsu Doan hadn't cleared it (62').

The FCA remained dominant, in the 70th minute Atubolu was able to parry against Iago (70th), shortly afterwards the goalkeeper made a strong save against Phillip Tietz, but was unable to do anything about Felix Uduokhai's follow-up shot (72nd).

In the final phase, Augsburg's celebration became even louder because substitute Engels was given space on the left side after a counterattack, hit a hook inside and hit the left corner with a low shot (81').
