Soccer world champion Andreas Brehme is dead. The former player for FC Bayern Munich and 1. FC Kaiserslautern died unexpectedly on Tuesday night at the age of 63. The media reports this unanimously with reference to his family.

Brehme became world champion with Germany in 1990, and in the final against Argentina he converted the penalty into the winning goal. As a club player, he won the German championship with Bayern in 1987 and with Kaiserslautern in 1998. He also won the UEFA Cup in 1991 with Inter Milan and won the DFB Cup in 1996 with Kaiserslautern.
