The Bundesliga soccer team FSV Mainz 05, which is in serious danger of relegation, has separated from coach Jan Siewert. The penultimate table announced the decision on Rose Monday.

Mainz lost 1:3 (0:2) at VfB Stuttgart on Sunday. The new coach is to be introduced on Tuesday, but the club did not give a name. On Saturday, FSV will face FC Augsburg (3:30 p.m., live ticker SPIEGEL.de; TV: Sky).

The 41-year-old Siewert only took over responsibility for the Rheinhessen team as interim coach at the beginning of November after Bo Svensson's resignation. In December he received a contract as head coach.

In his first game, Siewert got his first win of the season, but it was to be his only win to date. In the following eleven games, Mainz won six draws and five defeats. The gap to the relegation place is four points, and the saving bank is already nine points.
