Sporting are through to the quarter-finals of the domestic cup Taça de Portugal. Much thanks to Sweden's most dangerous player at the moment.
Striker Viktor Gyökeres headed in 3–0 at the end of the first half against Tondela, header on Nuno Santos' cross. Then he extended the lead immediately after the half-time break where the Swede took advantage of sloppiness and was in the right place at the right time.
Gyökeres was then substituted after just under an hour of play in the round of 4, which Sporting lead 0–<>. The quarter-finals, which have not yet been drawn, will be decided in February.
Tonight's two cup goals now leave Gyökeres with 18 goals and ten assists (league, cup and Europa League) in 22 games in his debut season for Sporting. Who leads the league in Portugal with Gyökeres as the top scorer, and Sporting are also through to the knockout stages of the Europa League.
