Portuguese legend Cristiano Ronaldo, captain of the Saudi team Al-Nassr, decided the top of the players with the most goals during 2023, after his direct rival for the award Norwegian Erling Haaland, the English star of Manchester City, missed the Everton site.

Thus, Ronaldo is confirmed to have won the top scorer award in 2023 with 53 goals, also surpassing Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane (52 goals) and Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe (50 goals).

The title of top scorer of the year has rotated since 2010 a number of stars in various leagues, but statistics clearly show the control of Saudi Al Nasr player Cristiano Ronaldo on the award (5 times), followed by Argentine star Lionel Messi, captain of Inter Miami (3 times).

FIFA's history and statistics website highlights the world's top scorer since 2010:

  • 2010: Argentina's Lionel Messi (60 goals)
  • 2011: Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo (60 goals)
