The Tour de Ski begins on December 30 in Toblach, Italy, with a freestyle sprint. January 3 is the next sprint stage and after that, some sprint skiers usually abandon the tour and go home.

But this year, the plan is for everyone to stay and complete the tour.

"We want to have as a starting point that you should go the whole tour. This year, there is no championship that we have to save ourselves for and it is also a rest weekend after the Tour de Ski in the World Cup, says national team manager Anders Byström to SVT Sport.

"Of course, sprinters choose a little extra focus on these two sprint races, but I think everyone wants to get up the hill and do this test as it is during these days. And this year, it's a good chance to do so considering it's not a championship.
