  • FC Copenhagen in the round of 16 after beating Galatasaray

FC Copenhagen, who beat Galatasaray 1-0 at home in the decisive match of Matchday 6, have qualified for the round of 8 of the Champions League.

Lukas Lerager, on a pass from Elias Achouri, scored the only goal of the match just before the hour mark (57'). FC Copenhagen, reduced to 10 men at the end of the match after the striker was sent off, returned to the exhilaration of the knockout stages of the premier club competition after the 2010-2011 season, when they were knocked out by Chelsea (2-0 0-0).

  • Real Madrid snatch victory against Union Berlin

Assured of first place in their group, Real Madrid won 3-2 away to Union Berlin at the Olympic Stadium, buoyed by a brace from Joselu.

With 18 points out of a possible 18 on the board, Carlo Ancelotti's men are ahead of Napoli, who won on Tuesday night at home against Portuguese side Braga (2-0), who are back in the Europa League.

  • Napoli book their place in the knockout stages

Napoli, the reigning Italian champions, booked their place in the round of 8 of the Champions League by beating Braga 2-0.

Napoli, already fourteen points off the top of the league, are the third Italian club to reach the knockout stages after Inter Milan and Lazio Rome. AC Milan, 4th in Group F, will have to win at Newcastle on Wednesday and count on a PSG defeat in Dortmund to emulate them.

  • Real Sociedad, top of Group D

Already qualified for the knockout stages, Real Sociedad secured top spot in Group D on Tuesday with a 0-0 draw with Inter Milan at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium.

Both teams finished with 12 points each, while a draw was enough for the Basques to finish top of their C1 group for the first time in their history, ahead of the reigning European vice-champions on goal difference.

  • Benfica secure third place in Group D

Benfica managed to clinch third place in Group D after their victory against RB Salzburg (1-3) and qualify for the play-offs for the round of 8 of the Europa League.
