John Liljelund believes that the weak audience influx is largely due to a lack of marketing in Singapore.

"The big problem is that we don't have enough spectators at the World Championships. Less than we feared it would be and less than the organizers thought it would be. And the reason is quite simple. No one has really handled the marketing of the event, he says to SVT Sport.

The next World Championships will be held in the Czech Republic and Finland. Even after that, it is likely to stay in Europe.

"The consequences, of course, are that it is more difficult to justify playing championships outside Europe because an important element has not been met," he said.

"What will happen is that we will have to demand more from all organisers. So we know for sure that we have enough spectators.
