Bengtsson and his championship horse came in far too diagonally to the triple bar.

"I wanted to ride a little on the inside edge, all of a sudden he jumped up and over the support," said the European team champion from Milan this summer.

"He cut himself a little bit. The vet has checked him and there is nothing wrong with anything.

The pre-race favorite tore himself out

Several strong riders disappeared already in the preliminary round.

Malin Baryard Johnsson's twelve-year-old gelding Harley Davidson hit his hind hooves in the same obstacle and the competitions were over for the event's sporting director.

American Jessica Springsteen hasn't had any fun days in the Friends arena. The grim final impression for the 2019 GP winner: four demolitions.

In addition, one of the pre-tournament favourites, Belgian World Cup runner-up Jérôme Guery, tore himself out.

Wilma Hellström? No, it was one round too many for Quinti von Hof. Two demolitions and three time faults and that afternoon was ruined.

Two Swedish combinations for the jump-off

Petronella Andersson and Peder Fredricson were Swedish riders for the jump-off.

Andersson went out as the fourth starter – and came over the last obstacle as the first clear rider.

Immediately after her was Fredricson on Hansson, who was unable to save his national team colleague's time.

Andersson and Odina van Klapscheut were more than two seconds faster.

Last up was fresh GCT winner Harrie Smolders on Deesse de Kerglenn, but the Dutchman wasn't fast enough either. Andersson won by 20 hundredths of a second.
