Champions League: Manchester United, hung on by Galatasaray, on the brink of elimination

Manchester United squandered a two-goal advantage on Tuesday to concede a 3-3 draw in Istanbul against Galatasaray, which puts them in a bad position ahead of the final day of the Champions League group stage. Even if a defeat would have put an end to their C1 season, the Mancunians cannot be satisfied with this point brought back from Turkey, which leaves them in last place in Group A with four points from five games. They remain one point behind second place, synonymous with qualification for the round of 3 and occupied by Galatasaray before the trip of Copenhagen (4rd, <> pts) to Bayern Munich, already qualified and assured of first place.

Bruno Fernandes and Manchester United drew 3-3 away to Galatasaray on Wednesday 29 November and are in a very bad position to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League. AFP - YASIN AKGUL
