Former Red Devils defender Rio Ferdinand has revealed that Lionel Messi has unfollowed the superstitious scissor Alejandro Garnacho on Instagram, and that superstar Cristiano Ronaldo could be the cause.

Ferdinand explained, in a statement to the channel "Vibe with Five" via YouTube, that Messi unfollowed his compatriot and teammate on Instagram because of the preference of the Manchester United winger for Ronaldo, Messi's eternal rival.

Ferdinand claims that the young striker told him that the Tango captain no longer admires him on social media, because Garnacho, who briefly played alongside Ronaldo at Old Trafford, did not hide the fact that he is a big fan of the Dons.

Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag said the stunning goal scored by Alejandro Garnacho on Sunday could be the goal of the season, but suggested it was too early to compare the young player to stars such as his role model Ronaldo and former star of the "Maneo" Wayne Rooney.
