The European Championships in Aberdeen, Scotland, are in full swing and for Isabella Wranå it was a big loss in the semi-final against Italy on Thursday.

"We've been in the situation they're in, to do their first championship and all the emotions and all the pressure that entails. Even though it was many years ago, I remember that feeling. I think they will recover and take the bronze medal against Norway, says Anna Hasselborg.

It is the first time since 2016 that team Hasselborg does not represent Sweden at a championship. And the 34-year-old admits that the defeat in qualifying for the European Championship still hurts.

"Feeling hungrier"

"Yes, it would be strange otherwise. It's sport and a competitive situation, so of course we would like to be there and represent Sweden. But we had a qualifier and we lost, it's as simple as that.

Anna Hasselborg also tries to see the positive side of the situation. The miss has given rest, albeit involuntary, as well as spurred the team whose goal is to reach the World Cup in 2024 and then the Olympics in 2026.

"We feel hungrier and more excited than we have in a long time. I am very positive about the future and believe that we and team Isabella Wranå will make each other better all the way into an Olympic selection.

Team Wranå plays the bronze match in the European Curling Championships today at 15.00 on SVT1/Play.
