Four of the six skiers in the sprint final in Ruka, Finland, were Swedes. Emma Ribom and Jonna Sundling were first and second in the first semi-final while Frida Karlsson was second in the second where Linn Svahn, who came third, also qualified on time.

Sundling immediately got a good position and took the lead in the beginning, closely followed by Ribom who was the only one who could keep up when Sundling increased the pace on the first uphill.

In the final climb towards the final stretch, Sundling and Ribom had a tight fight. But Ribom was a bit stronger and came in first on the final stretch.

In the end, it was a relatively comfortable victory for Ribom who crossed the finish line 0.85 ahead of Sundling and 1.81 ahead of the Norwegian

Frida Karlsson finished fourth while Linn Svahn finished fifth.

For Johanna Hagström, who was second in Ruka last year, it all came to an end already in the quarter-finals.

"I'm a little disappointed. I had hoped for more than going out in the quarter-finals. A bit of a surprise, says Hagström.
