It is an exciting team of the future that represents Sweden when the European Championship starts in Aberdeen, Scotland.

Experienced captain Isabella Wranå and Almida de Val, Olympic bronze medallist in mixed are complemented by hard-hitting Maria Larsson and Linda Stenlund – who gave up an alpine career for curling.

Good competition at home

To be the best in Sundbyberg's Curling Club is the same as world class. Team Wranå has long been one step behind the world team Hasselborg. But this time it was a qualifying victory and a ticket to the European Championship.

"It's been very good to have competition at home," Isabella Wranå points out.

Last week, the teams met again on the Grand Slam Tour in Canada and there were actually double victories for team Hasselborg.

Beat the world champion

Team Wranå got their big break in April when they won the Players Championship in Toronto. In the final, the four-time world champion defeated team Tirinzoni from Switzerland.

"We definitely want to win a medal, and in terms of rankings, we're there. But at the same time, we are humble as it is our first senior championship, says Almida de Val.

Ten nations will compete for the medals at the European Championships. Team Wranå starts against the Czech Republic and Switzerland on Saturday.
