HERE the 2023 Handball World Championship will be played:

The World Championships will be held from 29 November to 17 December 2023 in Sweden, Norway and Denmark. Venues are Gothenburg, Helsingborg, Stavanger, Frederikshavn and Herning.

This is how the 2023 Handball World Championship works:

  • 32 nations participate and are divided into eight four-team groups. The top three teams from each group advance to the main round, where the teams are divided into four six-team groups.
  • The fourth placed teams in the group go to the President's Cup in Hamina
  • The teams get the points they have taken against other teams that have advanced.
  • The top two teams from each group in the main round then advance to the quarterfinals.

– The quarter-finals will be played 12 – 13 December.

– The final game will be played 15 – 17 December.

– Sweden will play all group stage matches and any main round in Gothenburg. The quarter-finals will be played in Herning and Trondheim. Semi-finals as well as bronze and final matches will be played in Herning.
