This Friday evening, the Ballon d'Or trophy was presented by Marc Las, editorial director of La Chaîne L'Équipe, in the "Studio des Légendes", led by Jacques Vendroux on Europe 1. The 2023 winner will be announced on Monday evening at a ceremony at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.

Who will succeed Karim Benzema? Before being officially awarded on Monday evening, the Ballon d'Or made a detour on Friday to the offices of Europe 1 where it was presented by Marc Las, editorial director of La Chaîne L'Équipe. The prestigious 12kg trophy, estimated at nearly 13,000 euros, then took place in Le Studio des Légendes, piloted by Jacques Vendroux from Friday to Sunday between 20 p.m. and 21 p.m.

Four Frenchmen among the nominees

The ceremony, which will reward the 2023 winner, will take place on Monday at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. It will start shortly before 20 p.m. and will be broadcast live on La Chaîne L'Équipe. Lionel Messi, who has already won seven awards and won the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with Argentina, is the favourite. But the formidable Norwegian striker Erling Haaland, who won the Champions League title with Manchester City, and Kylian Mbappé, top scorer at the last World Cup, also have solid arguments.

A total of four Frenchmen are among the nominees. Mbappé, then, but also the defending champion, Karim Benzema, as well as Antoine Griezmann and the new Parisian Randal Kolo Muani. The voting is carried out by an audience of 100 journalists, representing the top 100 countries in the FIFA rankings.
