World No. 3 New Zealand, who have won the World Cup three times, and world No. 2 Argentina, who are aiming to reach the final for the first time by beating Japan in the first round, took place in Saint-Denis on 1 September.

Argentina took a three-goal lead with a penalty goal in the fifth minute of the first half, but New Zealand came back in the 7th minute with a try from winger Will Jordan.

Five minutes later, they scored back-to-back tries from quick passes, and flanker Shannon Frizell scored a try just before the end of the first half to make it 20-5.

New Zealand continued to outplay Argentina in the second half, and Jordan scored his third try of the day in the 3rd minute to push Argentina ahead.

Jordan has increased his total of tries to eight and is currently at the top of the try rankings.
