IOC President Bach has announced that a proposal to simultaneously decide the venue for the 2030 and 34 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games will be deliberated at the General Assembly, which begins in Mumbai, India, on June 15.

If approved by the General Assembly, the candidate sites will be narrowed down within the next month and a decision will be made at the General Assembly to be held in Paris next year.

Initially, Sapporo City, which was aiming to host the 2030 Games, had just changed its policy to bid for the Games after 11 on the 2034th of this month due to corruption and collusion surrounding the Tokyo Summer Games.

Sapporo Mayor Akimoto told reporters on the 14th, "I was a little surprised because I had heard that the possibility of a simultaneous decision was small.

He then stated, "It will be difficult to confirm the intentions of the residents and broaden their understanding of the hosting of the Games before the IOC Executive Board next month, when the candidate sites will be narrowed down," and expressed his recognition that bidding for the 2034 Games would be virtually difficult.

In addition, Mayor Akimoto expressed his intention to hold discussions with President Yamashita of the JOC = Japan Olympic Committee and others after the IOC General Assembly to consider how to proceed with the bidding activities in the future.
