A much-hyped encounter concluded the eighth round of the Premier League on Sunday night as Arsenal hosted Manchester City.

It became dangerous as early as the fourth minute when the centre-back duo of Josko Gvardiol and Nathan Aké tested the Arsenal defence. The Croatian's shot was saved on the goal line by Declan Rice while Aké in the next sequence shot over.

When barely half an hour was played, Mateo Kovacic lived very dangerously.

The midfielder came in late in a duel with Martin Odegaard and slid in with his studs first from behind. However, the Croatian escaped with a yellow card, following a VAR review, which was met with boos.

It then looked like it would end goalless, but with four minutes left, Gabriel Martinelli stepped up and Emirates exploded. The Brazilian's shot set up Ederson in the Manchester City goal as the ball was deflected through Nathan Aké.
