Manchester United's season has so far been marked by uneven performances on the pitch and turbulence outside. On Saturday afternoon, there was another chance to climb the table after the loss to Arsenal last time.

Instead, the next blow came. Brighton, after goals by former Manchester United player Danny Welbeck, managed to silence Old Trafford after 20 minutes. In connection with the goal, Victor Lindelöf stood for a hesitant action when the ball passed him.

The home crowd left the stadium

The second half did not get any better as Pascal Gross and Joao Pedro extended Brighton's lead to 3–0. Then even the home crowd got tired and several chose to leave the arena.

Hannibal Mejbri scored a consolation goal for United with quarter of an hour left to make the final score 3–1. The loss means Manchester United now sit in 12th place in the table after five rounds played.
