NBA soccer officials are considering an unprecedented decision regarding matches during international breaks, in which teams play official and international friendlies.

It is customary in the United States for matches to continue during the international period, known as "FIFA days", but it seems that this will change soon, especially after the arrival of Argentine star Lionel Messi to Inter Miami last July.

The French network "RMC Sport" confirmed that the officials of "MLS" are considering stopping the competition, so that clubs do not lose their international players as is happening with Inter Miami, and if this step is approved, it will be implemented starting from the new season.

Messi is scheduled to join the Argentina squad – which will begin next month the South American qualifying campaign for the 2026 World Cup – after the end of the Inter Miami and Nashville match in the American league, after which the club will have to allow Messi to join the "tango dancers".

Inter Miami, who has not lost any game since the arrival of Messi, loses the services of the Argentine star in 3 games against Los Angeles, Kansas City Wizards, and Atalanta United on 4, 10 and 17 September next year, respectively.

Argentina will play Ecuador and Bolivia on Friday and Tuesday 8 and 12 next month, in the first two rounds of the Latin qualifiers for the World Cup America, Mexico and Canada.

Argentine coach Gerardo Martino commented on the absence of Messi because of his national duty by saying: "We must get used to it, we will miss at least 3 games and we have to continue to win."

"I understand they're looking into it (suspension), and it's probably going to happen next year."

Messi will not be the only absentee from Inter Miami in the international break, because his teammates DeAndre Yadlin, Kamal Miller and Sergey Krivtsov will join their national teams, which are the United States, Canada and Ukraine respectively, while Spaniard Jordi Alba decided to retire internationally, according to Spanish reports.

NBA regulations allow clubs to reschedule their matches to the international break, which is what happened with Inter Miami, because the team was preoccupied with the League Cup - which it won - its match against Charlotte, which was scheduled for 20 this month, was postponed.

Until the move is approved, Inter Miami must find solutions to the period in which he will be deprived of Messi's services as the team occupies the penultimate place in the eastern division of the league championship.

Since Messi's arrival at Inter Miami, the team has not lost any match, but has won the first championship in its history, the League Cup, and reached the final of the America's Cup, and the Argentine star played 9 games, during which he scored 11 goals and provided 3 assists.

Messi's positive impact on Inter Miami's sporting results on the pitch does not stop only, but his arrival has caused a tremendous economic recovery, according to the Spanish newspaper "Sport".
