After two losses in the Swedish Cup, Mikael Stahre was fired as coach of IFK Göteborg on March 8.

Since then, Alexander Tengryd and William Lundin have temporarily shared the task of head coach of the venerable club, but after only one win in eleven Allsvenskan rounds in the table, the trust as head coach is exhausted.

Now it is clear that Dane Jens Berthel Askou, 40, will be the new coach of the Blue and White.

"I'm proud to be here and it's a great opportunity for me

Most recently, Berthel Askou comes from coaching jobs with AC Horsens, with whom he just finished the season in disappointment and tears.

Last Saturday, Horsens, who goes by the nickname "The Yellow Peril", was eliminated from the Danish top league after finishing second to last in the Superliga.

Before his coaching career, Berthel Askou was a hard-hitting defender and played for several Danish Superliga teams, Kasimpasa (Turkey) and Norwich.

Jens Berthel Askou will make his debut on IFK Göteborg's coaching bench on Sunday when IFK Göteborg play the last game before the summer break, against Sirius away.
