The adventure continues for Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka at Roland-Garros. The world No. 2 advanced to the semifinals on Tuesday, June 6, for the first time in her career, eliminating Ukraine's Elina Svitolina 6-4, 6-4 on Tuesday.

For a place in the final, Sabalenka will face Czech Karolina Muchova (43rd), who beat Russia's Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 7-5, 6-2 earlier in the day. In another politically charged match, Svitolina did not shake hands with Sabalenka after the game, nor did the two players share a pre-match photo at the net.

Czech Karolina Muchova (43rd) dominated Russia's Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (333rd), finalist in 2021, 7-5, 6-2 to advance to the semifinals of Roland Garros.

Second semifinal in a Major for Muchova

At 26 years old, Muchova has so far managed her best run in the Paris Grand Slam, in line with her first-round blow against Greece's Maria Sakkari (8th).

Against Pavlyuchenkova, Muchova broke early in the match to take the lead, which she then lost as the set progressed. She finally managed to conclude 7-5 in the first set. Bis repeated in the second set, started with an authoritative break that the 26-year-old managed to keep.

It was on her second occasion that the Czech won this match by 1 hour 38 minutes, after a backhand foul by her opponent, the 29th of the match. Muchova will play her second semifinal in a Major, following the one she lost at the Australian Open in 2021.
