In three minutes of added time, Victor Osimhen nodded in the equaliser 1-1 and it was a wild chase for the ball to get a chance in the 90 seconds remaining but Milan held off and were able to celebrate while some Napoli fans wept at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium.

It didn't matter that Napoli had run away in the Italian league Serie A and that Mlan is well behind as fourth. As for the European game, Milan was the number bigger. It was Milan's first success in 16 years in the tournament when they last won.

Two missed penalties

At the end of the first half, Rafael Leao intercepted the ball and went full speed through the lane, got past and held off Napoli players, and continued all the way to Napoli's penalty area, passing to the completely free Olivier Giroud who scored an easy goal.

Ten minutes from the end, Napoli got a ticket back into the game after being awarded a penalty (hands on a Milan's Fikayo Tomori who fell and got the ball on him) but goalkeeper Mike Maignan went the right way (his right) and saved Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's penalty.

In the first half, Milan missed a penalty.
