"So normally a rupture is 6 to 8 weeks. So we have to go for it, says Rosengård's sports director Therese Sjögran to TT.

After the match against Norway, the national team management confirmed that Seger suffered a muscle tear in his calf – however, no time perspective on the injury absence was given.

The following day, Sjögran told Aftonbladet that the midfield veteran will be out "for a few weeks".

So now it looks like it will be longer than that.

Could be back shortly before the squad is unveiled

The injury is another heavy blow for the 38-year-old midfield veteran, and raises questions about whether she will be fit for the World Cup.

Seger was injured on April 11 – if she is then out for eight weeks, she will be back in early June. The World Cup squad will be presented on June 13. The World Cup starts on July 20.

Seger recently made a comeback after an Achilles tendon operation that has kept her out since the European Championships in England last summer.
