Djurgården's goalkeeper Hedvig Lindahl suffered a tough injury in training.

Now surgery and a long rehab period await the 39-year-old.

"When it happened, I felt a huge disappointment to leave the team in the lurch, with only one senior goalkeeper left in the squad, who is only 19 years old. But it is what it is and I hope the team finds a way, like last time against Rosengård, she says to the club's website and continues:

– Personally, I realize that it is the final stage of my career and it is of course sad that the remaining number of matches I had been looking forward to now were greatly reduced, but still think that I am experienced when it comes to knee rehab and have to take time for other things instead.

Sporting Director Jean Balawo:

"Hedvig sustained an injury last week that we have now looked at and received an opinion on. There will be a knee operation for Hedvig and a subsequent longer rehab period. Now it is important for us to land in this tough message and make a plan to be able to support her in the best way.
