Exclusive guest of "Europe 1 Sport", the former president of Paris Saint-Germain and journalist Michel Denisot is not against the idea of buying the Stade de France by the Parisian club. The one who led PSG from 1991 to 1998 believes that going to Saint-Denis "would not change much" for the red and blue.

The idea is making its way and some former Paris Saint-Germain executives seem seduced by the idea. Exceptional guest of the show Europe 1 Sport (every evening from 20 hours to 23 hours live on Europe 1), Michel Denisot, former president of PSG (from 1991 to 1998), is not against a relocation of Parisians to the Stade de France. "I don't have a strong opinion but when I go to the Park I feel something special. There are many memories that come back in memory, sensations, pleasure to be there because we lived great moments. But after the page can turn, it does not shock me personally, "he reacted to the microphone of Lionel Rosso.

As a reminder, the Stade de France is looking for a new owner from 2025. And the Qatari leaders of Paris Saint-Germain seem more and more interested. Indeed, according to the sports daily L'Equipe, PSG should position itself on the purchase of the enclosure and submit a candidacy file by April 27, deadline for submission. The capital club currently plays at the Parc des Princes, owned by the Paris City Hall. But the Qataris would like to expand the stadium, or even buy it, which is not currently possible on the side of Anne Hidalgo.

"Not a surprise"

This desire to buy the Stade de France by the Parisian club has also been commented. "It's not a surprise, we knew that PSG had shown interest following the discussions we had on the expansion of the Parc des Princes. It doesn't change much. You know the position of the city. We said again that we have solutions to offer PSG, "said Pierre Rabadan, assistant to Sports, on BFM Paris. "Discussions have stopped following the extremely weak proposal made by Paris Saint-Germain for the takeover. We demonstrated the fact that we did not want to sell the Parc des Princes," he continued.

Also present in Europe 1 Sport, former football player Alain Giresse understands "the question that arises with the ability of the Parc des Princes, to want to have a more consistent stadium for this club." But the latter nevertheless expressed reservations: "When we see other clubs in France who have made the choice to relocate, we see that it is never a success. In Bordeaux, it didn't go well, something broke. Wouldn't this happen again in Paris?"

'Completely insane'

The purchase of the Stade de France would thus lead to a radical change for the Parisian club and its supporters. But for Michel Denisot, Parc des Princes or Stade de France, "it does not change much. When we watched the World Cup in Qatar we didn't ask ourselves where it was going on." An opinion that diverges from that of Jacques Vendroux who believes that this idea is "completely senseless".

But if PSG really wants to relocate its den, it will also face competition. The Parisian club will have to face serious candidates like Fifa who seems fully interested. "It would be necessary to make a check of 647 million," said Jacques Vendroux who also recalled that "if you are retained for the purchase of the Stade de France, you are obliged to sign a concession of 25 years", which would oblige the future owners to hold the den until 2050.
