Belgium, with its new coach Domenico Tedesco, went to win in Cologne against Germany (3-2) in a friendly match on Tuesday night, ending 68 years of famine against Mannschaft.

Belgium's last victory against Germany was on 26 September 1954, in a friendly match. Since then, the two teams had faced each other sixteen times with fifteen wins for Germany and a draw. The seventeenth opportunity was the right one for the Red Devils. On Tuesday night, the Belgians won thanks to goals from Yannick Carasco (7th), Romelu Lukaku (9th) and Kevin De Bruyne (78th) while Niclas Füllkrug (44th on penalty) and Serge Gnabry (87th) scored for Germany.
