Late on Wednesday night Swedish time, the Swedish MMA star visited the world's largest MMA program "The MMA Hour" and talked about, among other things, why he has not attended a fight since September last year.

A match he dominated and won via strangulation after just 2.13 in the first round. His twelfth straight victory.

"I have accepted all the matches, but nothing has happened. Colby Covington, Alex Pereira, Robert Whittaker. I don't know what's going on," Chimaev said.

"Then they'll pay me"

It made headlines in the MMA world last fall when the star narrowly missed the 77-pound (welterweight) weight limit for his big fight against Nate Diaz. The fight was then deleted and Chimaev was assigned to another opponent.

In the interview, he answers "yes" to the question of whether 84 kilograms (middleweight) is not the ideal weight class for him.

"I can lose 77 kilos too, no problem, but then they have to pay me a lot or give me a title match. If it's the same money, I can compete in 84 kilos, which is easier for me as I don't have to lose as much. Dieting is a part of MMA that I don't like," he said.

The plan: Sweden this summer, Abu Dhabi this autumn

As for the undefeated Chimaev's future plans, he would prefer to go his next match in Sweden.

Just this weekend, UFC president Dana White opened for a gala on Swedish soil in 2023.

"I want to go to a match in June or July, maybe they'll come to Sweden, Dana White has said it. Then I want to meet someone in 84 kilos, and then I can lose 77 kilos in Abu Dhabi at the big gala in October.
