Chinanews.com, Paris, March 11th. Ligue 1 Paris Saint-Germain Football Club confirmed on the 10th local time that the club intends to acquire the largest stadium in France, the Stade de France.

Paris Saint-Germain sources confirmed the reports through French sports outlets, but said no bid had yet been made.

The French sports ministry considered selling the Stade de France an option and approved a new operating lease.

The deadline for bidding is April 27.

According to French media reports, French officials hope to find a buyer for the 81,500-seat Stade de France for around 600 million euros. The stadium's current lease expires on July 1, 2025.

A consortium of French business groups has held the stadium lease since 1995.

Paris Saint-Germain currently plays at the Parc des Princes stadium in Paris.

The club signed a 30-year lease on the Parc des Princes in 2014, but said it would try to find another venue to play if it fails to buy the stadium through the city of Paris.

Paris Mayor Hidalgo previously stated through Le Parisien that the Parc des Princes is not for sale, but if the Parc des Princes remains under the official ownership of the city of Paris, she can discuss potential renovation projects with Paris Saint-Germain.

Paris Saint-Germain hopes to expand the capacity of the Parc des Princes stadium from 48,500 seats to 58,000 seats, and the renovation work is estimated to cost about 500 million euros.

According to French media, the Parc des Princes is still Paris Saint-Germain's first choice, and the purchase of the Stade de France is its second option.
