The Players Championship is popularly called "the fifth major" and David Lingmerth has fond memories of that particular competition.

In his debut in 2013, he finished second behind Tiger Woods.

However, for the past five years there has been no play in the prestigious competition for Lingmerth as his world ranking points have not been enough, but now that many players have switched to the LIV tour there are more places open for others and Lingmerth has profited from that.

And it also seems that he has found his form after a few difficult years.

At the end of February, the 35-year-old finished tied for tenth in The Honda Classic and in The Players Championship he is now tied for seventh ahead of Sunday's final round.

However, it would have looked much better had it not been for Lingmerth finding the water with his tee shot on the 18th hole, which saw him drop two strokes.

At the time of writing, Lingmerth is five strokes off the leader Min Woo Lee of Australia.

American Scottie Scheffler is second, one stroke from Lee.

The winner receives just over SEK 48 million.

The competition is ongoing.
