The German Steffi Graf became world number one for the first time in 1987, and was for the last time barely ten years later.

In total, she was number one on the list for 377 weeks, which has been the most weeks any person has been ranked as the world's best player.

Until now.

Last week, the Serbian Novak Djokovic touched the record.

And now, almost 26 years after Graf ended his time as world number one, Djokovic has entered his 378th week as world number one.

First competition since the Australian Open

Novak Djokovic became world number one for the first time in July 2011, and will this week compete in Dubai.

It will be his first competition since winning the Australian Open in January.

He has since recovered from an injury to the back of his thigh.

- I haven't been in pain for a week or so.

I feel good on the court, but still recovering and not quite 100 percent yet, he says on the ATP tour's website.
