Both at the WC 2020 and 2021, French Emilien Jacquelin took WC gold in the pursuit start.

But in this year's WC, there were no advanced individual placings.

In fact, his best finish was an unimpressive 20th place in the mass start.

Skips three World Cup weeks

In the relays it went all the better, with a gold in the men's relay and a silver in the mixed relay.

But now the season is over, even though there are still three stops in the World Cup.

"The mind is empty," he writes on Instagram, and explains later in the post that the last few years and months have been intense.

"I am now taking a step back to be able to perform better, so that the future will be even better," he writes.

Jacquelin is tenth in the overall World Cup with a second place in the Hochfilzen sprint and a third place in the same weekend's pursuit start as the best results this winter.
