It was decided to exclude John Brooks as an assistant video referee in two important matches, after he wrongly canceled a goal scored by Brighton & Hove Albion in their draw with Crystal Palace in the English Premier League last Saturday.

Brooks will miss the Liverpool and Everton derby scheduled for Monday, as well as the upcoming summit match that brings together leaders Arsenal and Manchester City, the defending champion and second place, the day after tomorrow.

Brighton & Hove Albion suffered a blow in its attempt to qualify for the European Championship after a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace, but it was affected by the wrongly canceling the goal of its player, Pervis Estupinan, on the grounds of offside.

During the replay, it became clear that the offside line had mistakenly hit James Tomkins instead of fellow Palace defender Mark Guehi, who was behind him.

Brooks was the VAR in this match.

Caused the loss of two points from Arsenal

In another arbitration error that occurred on Saturday, Evan Toni scored a goal to guide Brentford to a 1-1 draw and cause Arsenal to miss two points in the title struggle, but the replay showed that the goal should have been canceled due to offside in building the attack.

Yesterday, the FA Referees Committee admitted that there had been a “human error” from the video assistant referee in the two matches.

Keith Hackett, former head of the Referees Committee, told the BBC today that it was "unfortunate" that two mistakes had been made in this form of VAR.

Hackett added, "This is not the first time, we have suffered from this since the introduction of the video assistant referee technology. I believe that with Howard Webb (as head of the referee committee), we have someone who will work to rectify the situation."

And he continued, "I think he should dispense with some of the individuals who held the position of video assistant referee due to incompetence or because they are not at the required level to accomplish the task in light of their lack of accuracy."
