Russians and Belarusians may participate in the upcoming Olympics under a neutral flag.

"An avenue for athletes to participate under strict rules should be further explored," the IOC wrote in a statement last week.

And the UN later agreed.

"Totally against this"

Björn Eriksson, chairman of the National Sports Confederation, however, disagrees.

- I am completely against this.

We had a meeting this morning with the Nordic countries Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland.

We think this is wrong and we will turn to the IOC, says Eriksson in SVT's broadcast from the WC week.

- They misjudge the whole thing.

I'm not at all convinced that France, England and Germany will think sending tanks down is a brilliant idea.

I think it's a bad decision, think again and do the right thing.

Russian and Belarusian athletes have been banned from the championships since Russia's invasion of Ukraine almost a year ago.

Leaves this spring

It is already clear that Eriksson will leave the position as chairman this spring.

- There will be a bit of abstinence, but you can do other things for sport instead.

Swedish sports are doing well.

It's about developing it all the time.

- I will not just sit down and feed the pigeons.
